Meeting plans June 1
Troop 286,
7pm-7:15pm: gathering activity is learn to tie to a tye. Bring a tie from home. We will need all adults to help with this please.
7:15pm-7:30pm: Set up Flags for the Opening, tables & chairs, announcements. Evan is leading opening/closing with Alex as a part of a communications merit badge requirement.
7:30pm-8:15pm: Mrs. Mayback is teaching Citizenship in the Community to: Alex, Kenneth, Andrew, Jase, Timmy, Sean, Evan, Oliver, Sebastian, Henry, Daniel, Luke J, Luke P, Gavin, Jackson, Zach. (Some of these scouts have partials for Citizenship in the Community). Other scouts who already have this merit badge can work on other partial merit badges or pre reqs for summer camp. Homework for June 8, please watch one of these films: Follow Me Boys (1966), 42 (2013), Lincoln (2012), Pay it Forward (2000), Zootopia (2016), Holes (2003), He Named me Malala (2015), Remember the Titans (2000), Dunkirk (2017), The Blindside (2009), Cars (2006), Facing the Giants (2006), Mr. Hollands Opus (1995), Hidden Figures (2016), The Boy Who Harnesses the Wind (2019), Dark Waters (2019), The Kite Rynner (2007). Watch the movie and write a short paragraph about what you learned from the movie about what it means to be a valuable and concerned member of the Community. You will read it aloud to the group June 8th.
8:20pm-8:30pm: Closing Flags & Announcements.
What’s next?
June 8: after our regular meeting at 8:30pm we will be holding a short meeting about the Adirondack Canoe Trip in August. If you are interested in going on the trip for the first time, please stay for this meeting.
June 19-21: Claimjumper Campout! Don Miller. Troop 286 is the host Troop. We are in the same campsite as last year. We need RSVPs before June 1 with tshirt size. This campout is $30. Adults are needed to help run this event.
June 22: Cameron George’s Eagle Court of Honor is at 7:30pm in the Dining Room. This is in lieu of a meeting. Full uniforms please.
ADK Canoe Trip: August 6-9. A deposit of $130 is due June 22. This is the appropriate cost of the trip.
